The talented folks at the National Asian Artists Project (NAAP) brought Where We Are to life this June! I was genuinely spoiled in the care of Brian Jose (Director, also Brilliant Dude) and Ruiran Xun (Music Director, also Brilliant Lady), and am obsessed with this dreamy cast (Christine Toy Johnson, Kennedy Kanagawa, Teresa Attridge, Danny Bae, Elaine Baez, Jenelle Catherina, Cole Hong Sisser, Kevin Shiu, Vikas Venu, and James Wong).
Lighting by Adrien Yuen & photos by Eric Bondoc. And Baayork Lee at the helm?! The coolest. More info here!
It was such a pleasure to see WHERE WE ARE brought to life by the talented BFA students at Oakland University (dir. the brilliant Jacob ben Widmar)! I was stoked to expand the arrangements for the university’s 10-person cast, and was genuinely floored by the depth and commitment that the students brought to the piece. Go Grizzlies!!!
I had the time of my life watching Ana Villafañe bring “U-Haul” to life in this acoustic session, with the help of Andy Jean Louis (Cinematographer), Shane Dittmar (Orchestrator & Audio Engineer), Stefan Schallack (Audio Assistant), Jess Slaght (Additional Direction), and this gorgeous band!
Watch the stunningly talented Ana Villafañe sing “U-Haul,” accompanied by Britton Matthews (percussion), Hannah Cohen (violin), Wanling Baker (violin), Rachel Gawell Burns (cello), Katty Mayorga (guitar), and me on the keys!
I was over the moon to read this review of our presentation of WHERE WE ARE at Joe’s Pub, via CabaretScenes: The Magazine of the American Songbook Association! Check it out here!
Debuting my work at Joe’s Pub has been a longtime dream of mine, and I’m incredibly grateful for the brilliant team that came together to make it happen this January!!!
Each song in WHERE WE ARE is inspired by a map collected by the Hand Drawn Map Association. Full of humor, heartbreak, and humanity, the song cycle spans the physical and emotional terrain of characters caught between Point A and Point B.
WHERE WE ARE was brought to life by the unparalleled Claire Kwon, Sarah Dacey Charles, David Baida, and Stefan Schallack, directed by Jess Slaght, music directed by Andrea Yohe, orchestrated by Shane Dittmar, and accompanied by Sarah Fazendin (violin), Caitlin Thomas (cello), Katty Mayorga (guitar), Britton Matthews (percussion), and Andrea Yohe (piano). I’ll never forget how surreal it was to watch these gorgeous creatives breathe life into the project. <3

I was over the moon to read this review of One Wrong Turn: The Music of Rachel Covey at 54 Below! Written by Broadwayworld’s Belle Goodman, the piece touches on highlights from the evening and notes the incredible talent of the cast and creative team.
I was thrilled to join the Women & Theatre Project as a guest on the latest episode of their podcast! We spoke about inclusivity in theatre, the projects I’m working on, and the ladies in theatre whose mentorship and example have changed my life.
The chance to see my musical, Noise, on its feet for the first time was nothing short of incredible. I’m beyond grateful for the amazing team that came together to bring this thing to life, and to The Tank for giving us such a legendary space to call artistic home!
A bit aboutthe piece:
When Dr. Kenton began conducting a study on a college campus, she thought she was on the brink of a biomedical breakthrough. Today, she appears before a jury. Elsewhere, an unlikely friendship between two college students takes a bitter turn. As these stories unfold and begin to echo one another, lines blur between the past as we remember it, and the future as we fear it. Noise is a new musical about the interconnectedness of our pasts and our futures, and the ways we can be blinded by our ghosts.
The cast featured ABSOLUTE HEARTBREAKERS Mary VanArsdel, Rozie Baker, Stefan Schallack,Bryan Freedman and Karen Marulanda. The brilliant Jess Slaght was in the director’s seat, and Jeremy Jacobs shredded it on the keys. We somehow scored scenic designer Jessie Baldinger, lighting designer CJ Pierce, sound designer Lindsey Ratliff, and stage manager Sofia Shah. Basically, I’m the newest hardcore fan of every single one of these people. Check them out, and keep your eyes peeled for some exciting NOISE updates on the horizon!
